Working as the only designer on the team and with the guidance of research and development, I designed and prototyped the first version of the application for Courier Express warehouse in Atlanta.
Note: This design has been altered for copyright protection and trademark.
Pain Points: The Courier Express warehouse department needed a better system to organize inventory in the warehouse and also quickly find items when needed while working in a fast paced environment.
Research: After synthesizing inspiring insights from interviews with warehouse associates and management, we defined the problem and jumped right into the ideation phase. From sketches all the way into fidelity prototypes, we gradually created the first version of the application. Right now, we are conducting usability testings and will iterate more based on the feedback we receive.
Design: Application's design must be easy to navigate and bold while meeting branding guidelines.
Outcome: CX WMS (Warehouse Management System) is a mobile application that aims to assist in inventory control. By scanning the bin location barcode and the item sku barcode, CX WMS will provide location feedback by each piece. Concept sketch, mockup and prototype the flow process.
Key Design Concepts:
• Colors– Brand colors include Reflex Blue and PMS #032
• CX and Courier Express logos
• Bold and "simple"
Staying within brand guidelines, the company logo was incorporated as well as the brand colors and fonts for the final design.

Many variations were explored before deciding on the final design. Choosing the design that emphasized boldness and simplicity was the deciding factor.
After interviewing a few warehouse associates and the manager, goals and needs were established. Brainstorming with the development team allowed us to determine a solution. The mobile app will allow scanning and eliminates a need for another scanner tool that could get lost in the warehouse. I assisted with a few important page/screen wireframe sketches which included:

REFLECTIONS
Working as the only designer with the research and development team, allowed me to have more space and flexibilities to explore design options and user interactions, but I also had to mock up many screens for development. Although it was tons of work, I was grateful for the opportunity to practice designing flows and really explore Adobe XD and its plugins.
I learned how to effectively convey my rationale and justify the design during the discussions back-and-forth, and I also realized that efficient and open internal communications was key to getting the project done in a timely manner. All in all, designing a mobile application in terms of end-to-end experience and product strategies created an opportunity as a designer to empathize with stakeholders, understand their pain points, and design a solution – launching a successful product.
